Tarmac SL3

Whether it’s winning the Tour de France or a local crit, Tarmac is made for racing, with its powerful acceleration and razor-sharp handling. The Expert boasts the same ultralight SL3 frame construction as last year’s Tour-winning bike, plus Ultegra components an FSA carbon crank, and Fulcrum 3.0 wheels for race-ready performance.

  • FACT IS 10r full-monocoque carbon SL3 frame with tapered head tube and elliptical seatstays is Pro-Tour proven to be stiff and fast without sacrificing compliance
  • The FACT carbon fork is light, stiff, and compliant with a tapered steerer
  • Adjustable four-position 3D-forged alloy stem with 31.8mm bar clamp for strength and versatile positioning
  • Shimano Ultegra 10-speed shifters are lightweight and laser-accurate for high-performance use
  • Specialized BG Romin Comp features a shaped profile for max power and hollow Cr-Mo rails for durability
  • Race-ready Fulcrum 4 wheels are fast, light, and durable for high mileage training – made by Campagnolo for legendary performance

WHY TARMAC?

Driven by speed and the thrill of competition, these diehard riders and racers won’t settle for anything less than the lightest, stiffest, and fastest bikes on the road—whatever it takes to secure the win. Whether it’s winning the Tour de France or a city-limit sprint, these athletes ride hard and fast, enjoying every minute they can make the competition (or their friends) suffer.

WHAT:
High modulus carbon frame made from our most advanced carbon construction method.

WHY:
Gives our Tarmac the highest stiffness-to-weight ratio ever—19% greater than last year’s S-Works—which makes for an insanely light and fast bike.

HOW:
Divides frame into four monocoque sections (plus dropouts)—with carbon fibres running continuously from tube to tube within each section—for more precise optimization of tubes shapes, sizes, and joints.

WHAT:
Entyre Tarmac family borrows technologies from the top-end, Pro Tour-winning S-Works models

WHY:
Increases performance and overall value in every Tarmac we make. Allows all riders to enjoy technology exclusively found on pro team-level bikes a year or two prior.

HOW:
Each year advancements from previous S-Works models trickle down to lower level bikes. For instance all frames use FACT IS construction—our most advanced carbon construction method—featuring triangulated seatstays, tapered head tube assemblies, and oversized tube sets for torsional stiffness and light weight.

WHAT:
FACT IS construction with bottom bracket and chainstays constructed as one piece on SL3 and SL4 frame levels.

WHY:
optimises weight and stiffness in one of the most critical and highest-stress areas of the frame for superior acceleration, efficiency, and handling.

HOW:
The BB and chainstays are moulded together creating a single unit, rather than bonded together after moulding, along with the carbon BB shell. This results in a super strong and stiff unit: seamless from the BB to the dropouts, eliminating potentially weak junctions. This design resists deflection under extreme pedal loads for improved power transfer.

WHAT:
Strategically designed head tube on SL4 frames tapers from 1-1/8” at the top to 1-3/8” at the crown and facilitates massive top and down tube junctions.

WHY:
Increases strength and stiffness for greater steering precision and responsiveness during out-of-the-saddle efforts.

HOW:
The wider base creates a stiffer, stronger junction, and the gradual transition of carbon fibre from top to bottom eliminates the potential for weak spots due to sharp angles—carbon is at its best when it keeps a smooth line. Uber-oversized top and down tubes “wrap” around the front of the head tube, creating the ultra-stiff uniquely shaped “bulges” at the junctions. The design requires a smaller lower bearing (compared to last year’s 1-1/2″) which saves weight.
