WHAT:
Frames made of corrosion-resistant aluminium tubing, utilizing ORE (optimised Radius Engineering) on the down tube.
WHY:
Creates the best balance of light weight, strength, durability, and value.
HOW:
By controlling everything from the raw material to the extrusion, butting, swaging, and heat treatment of the tubes, we can optimise our Hardrock bikes for the given ride experience. ORE, specifically, increases weld surface areas at tube junctions for greater strength, while shaving material in non-critical areas.
WHAT:
29-inch specific models available at sport and disc levels.
WHY:
Provides faster and more efficient rolling on varied surfaces and makes it easier to get over obstacles.
HOW:
Larger wheels maintain more momentum when rolling, making road riding more efficient. Off-road, the contact angle is less severe on square edge bumps, so 29” wheels roll over obstacles faster and easier than traditional 26” wheels. They also bridge wider gaps between rocks, which smoothes out bumpy conditions.
WHAT:
Double-wall alloy rims with alloy cassette hubs.
WHY:
Longer wheelset life, quicker acceleration, and better control.
HOW:
By using a different extrusion process, a second wall is added to the rim, which increases stiffness and strength with little weight penalty. And while some competitors use freewheel style hubs, our alloy cassette hubs dramatically increase stiffness and strength at the point of power transfer, while protecting the axle from bending.
WHAT:
80mm-travel alloy fork with pre-load adjust, size-specific spring rates, and oversized stanchions.
WHY:
Better control and precise handling for a more responsive and comfortable ride on or off-road.
HOW:
Combining a lightweight fork material with stiff, oversized stanchions and 80mm of smooth travel keeps the front wheel on the ground and tracking straight over rough terrain. Preload adjust dials in the perfect ride allow riders to achieve proper sag according to their specific weight and desired ride feel.
