For riders who love to tear up flowy singletrack but don’t have the cash flow to upgrade to a Stumpjumper HT, the brand-new Carve is an ideal, high-value substitute. These riders mostly ride for fun and adventure, but will occasionally jump into an XC race, so they seek efficiency, comfort, and high durability more than ultralight weight or maximum stiffness.
WHAT:
Fully manipulated M4 alloy frame with XC 29er-specific geo, plus tapered head and seat tubes and shaped seatstays.
WHY:
Keeps the bike stiff and efficient, with super-quick handling and acceleration, while allowing for a smooth, forgiving ride.
HOW:
Like all our 29er geos, this one features short chainstays and longer top tube to optimise performance with the larger wheels. Head tube tapers from 1-1/8” to 1-1/2” at the crown, providing max torsional rigidity for snappy handling. Seat tube utilizes a 27.2mm post at the top, but widens down to BB for a stiff crank interface and ride compliance. Our Vertical Flex Stay System means seatstays are bridge-less oval shaped, (wider at the sides) which increases vertical compliance while torsionally stiffening the rear triangle.
WHAT:
Hydraulic disc brakes equipped on every model.
WHY:
More consistent stopping power, brake modulation, and overall control in any weather and all trail conditions.
HOW:
Hydraulic brake systems produce more power than mechanical brakes, which means increased power at the calliper and a more responsive touch on the levers. The Shimano rotors (180mm front and 160mm rear) keep speed in check.
WHAT:
Lightweight fork with magnesium lowers and a tapered alloy steerer, plus hydraulic lockout and damping.
WHY:
Reduces weight and improves bump absorption, steering precision, and tunability.
HOW:
Magnesium and alloy parts are stiff and lightweight for quick handling, while oil-regulated compression and rebound damping provides a smoother, more controlled ride over rough terrain. With the handlebar (Pro model only) and fork-mounted levers, riders can lock out the fork for increased efficiency on hardpack or smooth climbs.
