These experienced trail riders and recent full-suspension converts are looking for a no-nonsense mountain bike with just the right amount of travel for anything from singletrack to bomber descents. Whether it’s their first “fully” or a hard-earned upgrade, these riders want a quality system that gives them enough technology and capability to smoke their friends anywhere on the mountain.
WHAT:
Roval Control SL 29 wheelset with carbon rims (Pro Carbon model only, or aftermarket).
WHY:
Reduces weight, increases stiffness and durability, and absorbs impact better than alloy wheels.
HOW:
We designed this ultra-lightweight, carbon 29er wheelset with wide rims to accept large-volume tyres. The carbon rim is stronger and stiffer than alloy, so the wheels remain in-true longer, and absorb impact better. The combination of cross-laced and radial-laced spokes also reduces weight and improves overall strength.
WHAT:
Remote-adjust, three-position mechanical 100mm or 125mm-drop seatpost.
WHY:
Allows rider to lower and raise saddle, on the fly, for more efficiency and control over varying terrain.
HOW:
With the bar-mounted lever, riders only have to push a button, and the seatpost automatically compresses to one of three available heights: Climbing position (full height) for maximum power output on climbs and flats; Cruiser position (35mm below) for undulating terrain; and Descend position (125mm below) for maximum clearance and manoeuvrability on technical descents.
WHAT:
Rear suspension is positioned so shock, seatstays, and top tube align with one another.
WHY:
Straightforward set-up, suppler ride quality, and better small bump sensitivity in a lighter weight system.
HOW:
The in-line design allows bump forces at the axle to travel directly to the shock for better bump absorption and a suppler feel. By hydroforming the tubes in a shape that accommodates the new suspension layout, we eliminate extra forgings, thereby reducing weight.
WHAT:
All-new carbon 29″ frame with M5 alloy rear triangle features internal Command Post BlackLite routing, 110mm of rear wheel travel, integrated headset, and XC Trail geometry.
WHY:
Provides a top-end, lightweight option with just the right travel for most riders, fits perfectly between Epic and Stumpjumper options. Internal Command Post BlackLite cable routing for a clean, and untangled setup.
HOW:
The carbon front triangle keeps the weight to a bare minimum while boosting torsional stiffness. The geo is specially adapted for the XC Trail experience with slacker head and seat tube angles to deliver a more playful/less aggressive position for balanced climbing and descending capabilities.
