The little ones who ride a Hotrock—and the parents who buy them—want “big kid” quality and technology in a “little kid” package. These riders need a bike that’s light, safe, durable, and easy to control, whether getting their first feel for the dirt on front suspension mountain bikes or cruising the blacktop on 12” walkers.
WHAT:
Proprietary aluminium tubing used in all of our Hotrock frames.
WHY:
Creates light, strong, high-value, and size-appropriate frames where many competitors still use heavy plain gauge tubing (cheap to make, but pounds heavier!).
HOW:
By controlling everything from the raw material to extrusion, butting, swaging, and heat treatment of the tubes, we can optimise our Hotrock frames for the best balance of strength, weight, and durability for young riders.
WHAT:
50mm-travel SR Suntour fork on select models with pre-load adjust and lightweight alloy lowers.
WHY:
Provides true off-road capability and smoothes out obstacles on any surface.
HOW:
50mm of smooth travel absorbs bumps in the road or rocks on the trail, building confidence and honing technique. Adjustable preload tunes the fork to the correct spring rate at the turn of a dial, guaranteeing the proper amount of suspension for a kid’s weight.
WHAT:
Sturdy aluminium wheels with Specialized flat-resistant tyres.
WHY:
Lighter weight and longer life with better control and confidence.
HOW:
Aluminium wheels have better strength-to-weight ratio and are lighter than steel, plus they are more weather-resistant. Various high-quality, puncture-resistant Specialized tyres are specifically chosen for each bike model, depending on the unique needs of the young rider and the experience.
WHAT:
Low standover height and low bottom brackets in a full range of sizes for each age.
WHY:
Builds confidence because kids of any age can easily step down when starting and stopping, and more seatpost adjustability gives them room to grow into their frames or hand them down to siblings.
HOW:
With low bottom brackets, the frames have a lower centre of gravity that’s more stable. This also allows us to spec size-specific crank arms and make seat tubes and seatposts longer for increased adjustability.
