Our Workshop

At Shorter Rochford we have excellent workshop facilities at both Potters Bar and Finchley.

At both stores we also have excellent mechanics who are well capable of completing any job that might be required on a bicycle, to a very high standard .

We can also offer frame respraying by one of the UK's premier sprayers.

All of our bikes are sold fully serviced in our own workshops - we don't sell "Bikes in Boxes" - and we invite our customers to return new bikes to us after generally a four-to-five week period of riding, so that the same checks that are done on a new bike, can be carried out again when the bike has "settled in". There are no additional charges for these services.

Wheelbuilding

We enjoy an excellent reputation for the quality of our handbuilt wheels.

With the increase in the availability of ready-built wheels, there are fewer and fewer shops offering true in-house, competent wheelbuilders.

Ready-built wheels, whilst excellent in many applications, are not always exactly the right thing for the customer's requirements - a custom handbuilt wheel would often be a far better choice - and that choice is available at Shorter Rochford!

Repairs

We are happy to carry out any repair on any make or model of bicycle, regardless of whether it was purchased from us or not. (See disclaimers below)

We are able to undertake a full range of services on all of the parts and systems of a bicycle, from fitting a new inner tube at one end of the scale, to a total strip down and rebuild at the other.

Most manufacturer's shock forks, rear shocks, hydraulic brakes and pre-built wheel sets can be serviced. We will either do this in-house, or send for servicing at accredited service centres, depending on the particular job.

We reserve the right to refuse workshop work if we don't believe it is possible to service a bicycle to our service standards.
We reserve the right to dispose of repairs not collected within 3 months of completion in order to defray our costs.
