Our Team

At Shorter Rochford we have long been involved in sponsoring some of the finest cyclists this country has produced.

As sponsors of the Leo RC, and now of our own racing team (see rider listing below), we have experience of assisting riders at every level, from World Record holders, through Elite road riders, from Cyclo-Cross to time trials, on the track and in Triathlon.

There are few shops that can claim to have been as active in the racing scene as Shorter Rochford have been over the years, and in 2008, we will start a new chapter in that story.

Home de Ferro Ibiza international Tri Posted Tuesday, October 14, 2008 by Graeme
Darren Treadaway swam, rode and ran to an excellent 10th place in the Home de Ferro International Tri in Ibiza last weekend.

The race also doubled as the Spanish Long Course Championship, so athletes from all over Europe were there - only 3 out of the top 10 were actually Spanish!

The race was 4k swim, 120k bike and 30k run and Darren was out there & competing for 6h 20min. The last 20 min of the run were the most telling, in his own words "the most painful of my life", seeing Darren drop from 8th to 10th place, but just hang on to make it into the money!

It's his best International result to date and a great credit to him.

Shorter-Rochford Exclusive Ranges pair take Competition Record Posted Tuesday, September 16, 2008 by Graeme
Shorter-Rochford Exclusive Ranges pair Richard Bradley and Charles McCulloch took competition record at 10 miles on the tandem on Saturday in the Kent Valley RC event, with a stunning time of 17'21", beating the previous best (Zac Carr and Glenn Taylor, 17:33) by some 12 sec. at an average speed of 34.6mph

Another result for Rob ... Posted Friday, September 12, 2008 by Graeme
Rob Engers (the puncture king ...) avoided all mishaps to place 6th in the Northampton Sprint Tri on Sun 7th Sept. That's two in a row with no punctures :-)

Attention this weekend will be focussed on the Orca Classic where Darren Treadaway and Leigh Harvey will both be racing.

Late News - weekend of Aug 26th Posted Friday, September 12, 2008 by Graeme
The Jordans Bedford Classic was the premier event on the calender this weekend (Aug 26th) and with £500 for winning up for grabs it was bound to attract a lot of pot hunters and it didnt dissapoint.

There was only 1 minute seperating the first 3 places after two hours of racing in the mens event, Shorter-Rochford's Darren Treadaway was the one who just lost out taking 3rd place despite taking the fastest run time of the day but none the less it was good perfomance and he took home £100, so not bad for a mornings work!

Leigh Harvey in only her second Olympic distance race placed 9th in an equally competitive womens field, she took one of the fastest bike splits ... So with a winters training who knows whats going to be possible next year!

Not only did Rob Engers not puncture but he took 2nd place in the sprint race!

Dan Corner won the final of the sprint race at Thames Turbo yesterday but as yet, we don't know the full details.

World Champion Dan! Posted Monday, August 18, 2008 by Graeme
Dan Corner sucessfully defended his World Quadrathon Championship on Sunday 10th August.

It could all have ended in disaster as he capsized his canoe in the kayak section and lost valuable time, but he dug deep on the run to pull back the lost time and pass his nearest competitor, a Czech athlete, and go on to win the gruelling event by over a minute.

Dave candy meanwhile is flying, finishing 5th overall and second Vet in the Swanage Classic Triathlon.

Rob Engers managed puncture number 6th this season... there is some kind of weirdness going on here - 6 starts, 6 punctures & now it looks as if Darren Treadaway might have causght the bug after rooming with him at the Swanage event ... he punctured whilst in 2nd place to the in-form James Gillfillan. Twighlight Zone, anyone?

Weekend results - Richard Bradley wins, 2 thirds and a 7th ... Posted Tuesday, July 29, 2008 by Graeme
The team had a successful weekend on the time trialling front in addition to the Quadrathon detailed below ... 4 of the guys placed in their events, with Richard Bradley winning his 10 mile event. At the other end of the scale, Mike Broadwith was an impressive third in the Elmet CRC 12 hour, despite the hot, sticky conditions.

Echelon Cycles 10, Richard Bradley 20:07, 1st, Bill Moore 21:00, 7th.

Elmet CRC 12hr, Michael Broadwith, 272.13, 3rd.

Hull RC 10, Adam Duggleby, 3rd.

A win for Dan Posted Monday, July 28, 2008 by Graeme
Dan Corner is looking good to defend his World Quadrathlon crown next month, after a convincing win in the Bedford ultisport Festival Quadrathlon event.

Swimming, Kayaking, Mountain biking and running are the for events in this gruelling sport, where like the three disciplines of Triathlon, they are completed one after another.

Exiting the swim about 25 sec. behind the Army's Chris Stuart, he overtook Stuart in the Kayak and never looked back, taking the win in convincing style, by some 4 minutes.

Big Cow Triathlon, Emberton Park, 20th July Posted Monday, July 21, 2008 by Graeme
For the triathletes, the weekend certainly didn't disappoint!

At the Olympic distance Tri at Emerton Park, Dave Candy (2:02:54) placed 23rd overall and 3rd vet in a very strong field, which also saw Darren Treadaway (1:56:14) coming 8th - Darren felt he was perhaps a bit below par, and so will now rest a bit, hone his training and come back to "clip some heels" at the Cambridge tri on Aug 10th.

The overall event winner was Jonathan Hotchkiss (1:51:04) of Sigma Sport - but then he IS a full time athlete!

Special mention should go to Leigh Harvey, who was competing in her first Olympic distance event - her pre-race apprehension clearly wasn't justified, as she placed 9th overall and 2nd in her age group amongst the women in a time of 2:16:25

Late result, plus 2 wins for Leigh and Bill Posted Tuesday, July 15, 2008 by Graeme
A late result - Charles McCulloch won the CDLCA 25 on Saturday 28th June in a time of 48:52, one of the fastest times this year.

Saturday 12th July saw Leigh Harvey win the Dorney Lake "All Ladies" Sprint triathlon, from an entry of some 1400 athletes.

Meanwhile, Bill Moore won the Warwickshire RC25 on the A25/11 in Leicestershire, clocking 52:41 on Sunday morning.

Racing in dry conditions for the first time this year (!) Darren Treadaway scored the overall win at the Andover Tri, holding off Chris Birch, who placed 10th in the National "10" this year in the process ...

Hat-trick of wins for the Triathletes! Posted Tuesday, July 8, 2008 by Graeme
Last weekend saw the Shorter-Exclusive Ranges team of triathletes in action across the country in really poor conditions.

With the Bornemouth International Triathlon "reworked" into a duathlon on account of the conditions (the swim was judged by the organisers "inadvisable"), and appalling conditions for the Scunthorpe Quadrathon, it could easily all have been very different!

As it was, Dave Candy and Darren Treadaway won first vet and first overall respectively at Bornemouth, the change to a duathlon particularly suiting Dave Candy - Leigh Harvey decided that discretion was the better part of valour and completed the run, opting out of the bike leg, whilst Rob Engers had puncture number 4 of the season.

Dan Corner won at Scunthorpe, where conditions for the Quadrathon were described as "tough".

Gold, Silver medals at National 25 for Team Shorter-Rochford / Exclusive Ranges Posted Wednesday, June 11, 2008 by Graeme
Team Shorter-Rochford / Exclusive Ranges scored an excellent team gold medal at the National 25-mile time trial championship on Sunday. The team's Gold medal was the result of Charles McCulloch's individual overall Silver, category B Gold performance of 51:50, Richard Bradley's 10th place ride of 54:21 and Bill Moore's 22nd place ride of 55:33.
The medal was also an important landmark for Bill Moore, coming exactly 10 years after his last medal at national level.

The team's Gavin Pardoe also rode, his 56:07 showing that he is now coming to form.

The event was won by the in-form Michael Hutchinson, in 50:49.

Pictures, we hope, to follow ...

National 10 Result - Team Silver, individual Bronze Posted Wednesday, May 28, 2008 by Graeme
Congratulations to the Shorter-Rochford / Exclusive Ranges team of Charles McCulloch, Richard Bradley and Adam Duggleby for an awe-inspiring display of speed on Sunday at Road Time Trials National 10 Mile Championships. A team Silver and an individual Bronze medal against the best riders in the UK was an awesome acheivement for the brand new team.

Only the full-time professional PCA Pro Cycling Tea could better the total times of Charles McCulloch (individual Bronze, 19:03), Richard Bradley (11th, 19:36) and Adam Duggleby (26th, 19.55) so giving the Shorter-Rochford / Exclusive Ranges the Silver Team medal.

The course was the super fast P881R based at Liphook, Hants. The Shorter Team, made up of two vets and an espoir all rode exceptionally, and whilst none scored personal bests (looking at the results it did seem to be a day for it!), their solid collective performance was good enough to be overturned only by the full-time bike riders of one of the UK's most successful Pro teams.

The winner overall was the in-form Michaels Hutchinson (18.07), second was full-tTony Gibb of the PCA Pro Cycling team, (18:50).

McCulloch was also fastest vet, although his age meant he was denied the Vet's win, as placings in this class are calculated relative t age-related "Standard" times ... he was fast enough to be second Vet on standard, however, despite the disadvantage conferred by his (relatively) young age in the Vet's class!

First pic of new Team Kit Posted Wednesday, May 28, 2008 by Graeme

Well, here it is, Bill Moore sporting the new team kit - the first of any pictures featuring the Red White and Black colours of Shorter Rochford-Exclusive Ranges RT!

More May results - Duathlon and Triathlon Posted Monday, May 19, 2008 by Graeme
Shorter Rochford - Exclusive Ranges Racing Team have had a good run in early May - Darren Treadaway placed 6th at the Steyning Duathlon and 2nd at Cambridge in the Duathlon event there early in the month, having also shown form at the Lisbon International Trithlon, a full International event with a number of current and former World and European champions racing - Darren was 17th.

Dan Corner finished 2nd overall in the National Duathlon series, with Dave Mitchinson 3rd in age group in the National Duathlon Champs.

Leigh Harvey won the Furzefield triathlon, with Dave Candy 2nd in the men's event.

New News system for the team page! Posted Friday, May 9, 2008 by Graeme
We'll be adding news of the team here from now on. We've just installed a system to make doing that easier, so the Team News will be updated more regularly ...

News managed by NewsPro.

Shorter Rochford RT-Exclusive Ranges took the team prize over Easter in the prestigious Welwyn Hilly 50 Time trial.

Despite roadworks shortening the course to 40km, triathlete Dan Corner had more than adequate distance to demonstrate his class taking second place overall. Darren Treadaway and Gavin Parday both comfortably finished in the top 10 thus securing the team win.
